Personal Growth and Capacity Building
The skills and attributes which got us to this point in history are ill-equipped to get us to tomorrow, and reinventing education and schools is at the heart of this challenge. The skills and attributes we will need to cultivate and develop do not match up to the narrow focus of the school environment.
The factory school model of programming young people with facts, functionary skills, simulated thinking, and conformity is not what young people will require in a deeply uncertain, confusing, and complex world.
We focus on the development of technical skills which allow us to perform narrow tasks in the workplace, in order to manipulate systems and environments. What will happen when technology can do all of these better than us?
Personal growth possibilities are infinite, can this be blended with our need for material growth to reach a sustainable future?
How do we create environments and experiences which harmonise our inner world and exterior skills capacity, and allow for emergent learning?
How do we create cultures of learning and curiosity?
